The Mentoring Program is designed to allow CIOs, regardless of their experience,
to connect with experienced CIOs to discuss challenges, issues, and developmental needs in order to
further develop their CIO skill set in the healthcare industry.
This is a "distance learning" type of program that will largely be accomplished by
telephone and e-mail discussions. Face-to face-meeting opportunities will be orchestrated twice a year
at CHIME’s Fall CIO Forum and the Spring CIO Forum/HIMSS Annual Conference. If the mentor/mentee partners
are located in close geographic proximity, they are encouraged to spend more time with each other in
person, if possible, in order to get the most value from the program. Monitoring of the effectiveness
of this process would be accomplished by CHIME, through regular assessments by the participants.
