CHIME Announces Healthcare CIO Boot Camp Scholarship Winners
Ann Arbor, MI, April 18, 2008 – Two healthcare IT professionals have been announced as the recipients of CHIME Healthcare CIO Boot Camp scholarships.
Jim Francis, Technical Services Director at Halifax Health in Daytona Beach, FL, is the recipient of CHIME’s Healthcare CIO Boot Camp Minority Scholarship.
The Healthcare CIO Boot Camp Minority Scholarship was developed to enable more minorities to attend CHIME’s CIO Boot Camp program. The program is designed to assist individuals in the healthcare IT profession to develop the required skills needed for becoming successful healthcare CIOs. The scholarships are available to minority candidates who show significant potential to become a CIO, or for current CIOs whose career will directly benefit from attending the CIO Boot Camp program.
Francis was selected by CHIME’s scholarship review committee based on his capable leadership and customer-centric philosophy. Halifax Health’s CIO, CHIME member Lori DeLone, recommended Francis for the award. “I am thrilled to recommend Jim Francis for this important scholarship,” said DeLone. “Jim endeavors to continually improve his own skills, both technically and professionally.”
Karen Green, CIO at Brooks Health System in Jacksonville, FL, is the recipient of CHIME Healthcare CIO Boot Camp Women’s Scholarship.
Available to both CHIME members and their direct reports, the Women’s Scholarship was designed to enable more women to enter and move ahead in the healthcare IT profession, specifically into the healthcare CIO role. The scholarship is available to female candidates who show significant potential to become a CIO, or for female CIOs whose career will directly benefit from attending the Boot Camp program.
Brooks Health System’s COO, Michael Spigel, says Green’s dedication to her organization make her a perfect candidate for the Women’s Scholarship. “Karen’s advancement within the company has been due to her ability to demonstrate and communicate a strategic direction and vision on how technology can best serve the overall organization and specific business units. Karen also demonstrates a keen understanding and ability to manage the delicate balance between the realities and demands of the business units and the roles and responsibilities of the information technology department.”
Both scholarships provide the full tuition fee for attendance at the CIO Boot Camp program.
