CHIME-AHA Transformational Leadership Award goes to BayCare Health System
Ann Arbor, MI, October 28, 2009 – CHIME and the American Hospital Association presented the 2009 Transformational Leadership Award to BayCare Health System at the CHIME09 Fall CIO Forum in Indian Wells, Calif.
The award was presented to Lindsay Jarrell Sr., vice president and CIO for BayCare, and Stephen Mason, its CEO.
BayCare Health System is in the midst of a seven-year, $228 million systemwide implementation of an electronic medical system as well as undertaking an organizational transformation. So far, the effort has resulted in qualitative and quantitative results that demonstrate how the project, called BEACON, has changed the way the entire system delivers and administers healthcare.
The Transformational Leadership Award was created to acknowledge outstanding transformational leadership using IT in healthcare. Presented jointly to both the CIO and CEO, the award recognizes an organization that has excelled in developing and deploying information technology that improves the delivery of care and streamlines administrative services.
