CHIME Foundation Presents Lifetime Achievement Award to Ivo Nelson

Nelson founded Houston-based Encore Health Resources in February with Dana Sellers, its CEO. The consulting firm supplies project management, strategic planning, and data analytics and reporting assistance to healthcare organizations.

Demonstrating meaningful use of electronic medical records systems is essential so providers can quality for federal stimulus funds for the use of clinical systems.
Nelson has many years of service in a variety of healthcare service companies. Prior to forming Encore Health Resources, Nelson worked for IBM after the corporation acquired Healthlink in 2005, a provider-focused healthcare information systems consulting firm that Nelson founded in 1992. “I think it’s exciting to see essentially what we’ve been doing for the last 30 years get so much recognition,” he said. “This is the missing link in healthcare. Not only is IT front and center, but everyone believes that it will make the system more efficient.”
Nelson said he is flattered to receive the award, and is thankful for the support he’s received over the years.
“I’ve served most of my career as an executive or CEO of a healthcare IT organization. You’re the face of the company, but you’re not the company,” he said. “CEOs get a lot of credit for what a lot of great people do behind them. This is an award for all those people who made me look good.”
