CHIME Congratulates Newly Certified CIOs
ANN ARBOR, MI, December 7, 2011 - The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) is pleased to announce that 14 CHIME members and 14 CHIME Affiliate program participants have earned the Certified Healthcare CIO (CHCIO) and CHCIO-Eligible designation.
CHCIO status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development for healthcare CIOs and is the only credentialing program that distinguishes healthcare IT executives from others in the industry.
“CHIME’s newest CHCIOs are to be applauded for their accomplishment in furthering themselves professionally and defining themselves as industry leaders,” said CHIME Board member and Certification Committee Chair Gary Barnes, CIO at Medical Center Health System. “These CHCIOs are sending a strong message that they have the proven skills necessary to guide their organizations in today's ever-changing HIT environment."
CHIME members who have been in a CIO or equivalent position for at least three years, pass the 125-question CHCIO examination, and collect 25 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are eligible to become certified. CHCIOs must be committed to ongoing professional development and undergo recertification every three years.
Additionally, CHIME is dedicated to the development of future industry leaders and as such awards the designation: CHCIO-Eligible. This status is awarded to those candidates who meet all of the program requirements but lack the requisite number of years of experience as a CIO.
Since the program’s launch in 2009, a total of 140 CHIME members and CHIME Affiliate program participants have now been credentialed as CHCIO and CHCIO-Eligible.
The next exam will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 4pm at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas as part of the HIMSS12 conference.
