CHIME Congratulates Blumenthal, Ready to Work Together

ANN ARBOR MI – The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) commends the choice of David Blumenthal, M.D., M.P.P. to serve as the next National Coordinator for the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Health Information Technology (ONC). Dr. Blumenthal, currently Director of the Institute for Health Policy at Massachusetts General Hospital/Partners HealthCare System is a practicing physician and leading scholar on health information technology.

CHIME President and CEO Rich Correll sent a letter on behalf of CHIME, expressing strong enthusiasm in working with Dr. Blumenthal and his staff on implementation of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and its health IT goals to transform today’s paper-based system into an electronic, interconnected healthcare system to improve the delivery of patient care.

“As chief information officers, CHIME members have a range of experience using electronic health records to coordinate care, enhance quality and working with others in the community to reduce barriers to interoperability and facilitate population health,” Correll wrote. “We stand ready to assist you in any way we can as you undertake this most critical assignment.”
