CHIME Honors Kolodner for Distinguished Service

ANN ARBOR, MI – The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) is pleased to announce the presentation of CHIME’s Award for Distinguished Service to the Health IT Industry to Dr. Robert Kolodner, National Coordinator for Health IT. The award was given at the CHIME/HIMSS CIO Forum on April 4 in Chicago. Before the award was presented, by Dr. Kolodner spoke about the impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act on health IT in the coming years to the 400 CHIME and CHIME Foundation members in attendance.

Dr. Kolodner began his service as Interim National Coordinator of HIT in 2006, and he was appointed permanently to the position in 2007. He served as principal advisor to the Health and Human Services Secretary on all healthcare IT initiatives.

Prior to his appointment, he served as Chief Health Informatics Officer for the Veterans Administration. CHIME has a long-term relationship with Dr. Kolodner, and he has participated as a speaker and honored guest at a number of CHIME events.

“Dr. Kolodner has done so much for the healthcare IT industry,” said CHIME President and CEO, Rich Correll. “He has served us all well as National Coordinator. The CHIME Board of Trustees, and I’m sure all CHIME members, are grateful for his service.”
