CHIME Survey Shows Majority of CIOs at the Helm of IT Steering Committee
Ann Arbor, MI, June 17, 2008 – A recent survey of CHIME members shows that while half of respondents’ CEOs sit on the IT Steering Committee, only a small minority of those CEOs act as chair of the committee. Survey results indicated that the vast majority of IT steering committees are chaired by the CIO.
The survey was conducted in April of this year. 90% of responding CHIME CIOs reported that their organization has an IT steering committee, with 51% reporting that their CEO sits on the IT steering committee. 95% also reported that VPs of their organization sit on the committee.
Despite high levels of CEO participation, 67% of CIOs reported chairing the committee themselves, with only 10% identifying the CEO as chair. Another 10% stated that a physician chairs the IT steering committee.
