Russell P. Branzell, FCHIME, CHCIO (Current; Past: Spring 2009, Fall 2009, Spring 2010, Spring 2011, Fall 2011)
VP/CIO, Poudre Valley Health System, and CEO, Poudre Valley Medical Group
Russ Branzell is the Vice President of IS/CIO, Poudre Valley Health System (PVHS) and
the President/CEO of Innovation Enterprises (PVHS’ for profit IS entity).
PVHS is an integrated health system with a reputation for excellence and innovative care.
They most recently are the recipients of the 2008 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award,
the highest Presidential honor given to United States businesses and organizations that
demonstrate performance excellence, the Colorado Performance Excellence Peak Award (first
and only organization in the state), Solucient’s 100 Top Hospitals, Health Grades Distinguished
Hospital Award, Magnet Hospital for Nursing Excellence designation, Avatar International 5
Star National Award, and US News and World Report-America’s 50 Best Hospitals. In addition
to these honors and awards, the Information Services Division was recognized with Information
Week Magazine’s Top 500 Award for innovative technology usage and also received the Business
Technology Optimization Excellence Award for IT Governance Best Practices (2004).
Prior to joining PVHS, he was the Regional Deputy CIO and Executive Director of Information
Services for Sisters of Mercy Health System in St. Louis, MO. Before his time in St. Louis,
Mr. Branzell served on active duty in the United States Air Force and continues to serve in
the Air Force Reserves. While on active duty, Mr. Branzell served in numerous healthcare
administration positions including Chief Information Officer for the Air Mobility Command
Surgeon General’s Office. In 1996, he was selected for the Air Force Medical Service Fellowship
program and completed a CIO Internship at the Unity Health System in St. Louis, MO.
Mr. Branzell is a past member of the CHIME Board of Directors (2004-2008), past Chairperson
of the CHIME Education Committee (2004-2008), and past Program Director for CHIME’s Healthcare
CIO Boot Camp (2006 - 2009). He was instrumental in the development and ongoing success of CHIME’s
LEAD Forum and CHIME Foundation Boot Camp education programs, serving both as Program Director and
as a member of faculty for both since their inception. In addition, he has served as Chairperson of
CHIME’s Spring and Fall CIO Forum Planning Committees. Mr. Branzell currently serves on the CHIME
Education Foundation Board.
Mr. Branzell is a Certified Healthcare CIO (CHCIO), a fellow of CHIME and HIMSS, and board
certified through the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). He was awarded the 2005
ACHE Regent’s Award as the Young Healthcare Administrator of the Year for the State of Colorado.
PVHS has received numerous industry awards in recognition of it’s commitment to the advancement
of healthcare informatics.
Russ serves on numerous editorial, volunteer, community and management boards. Additionally,
he has been a speaker at regional, national, user groups and vendor conferences.
A native of San Antonio, Texas, Russ earned an undergraduate degree in business administration
specializing in human resource management and labor relations from the University of Texas. In
1995, he earned a Master’s degree in Administrative Science from Embry-Riddle University with an
emphasis in management.

Rodney C. Dykehouse, CHCIO (Past: Fall 2009, Spring 2010, Fall 2010, Spring 2011, Fall 2011)
VP of Information Services and CIO, ProHealth Care
Rod Dykehouse is the VP of Information Services and CIO of ProHealth Care, a two
hospital community health system including a large group practice, 16 medical
centers, nursing homes, and hospice, all located in Waukesha, WI.
Most recently Rod served as CIO of UCLA Medical Sciences, including the David Geffen School
of Medicine, UCLA Medical Group, UCLA Medical Center, UCLA – Santa Monica Hospital, Stewart
and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA, and Mattel Children’s Hospital at UCLA.
The UCLA Medical Sciences has approx 950 beds and net revenues of $2 billion. Rod led the IT
Transition into the $1 billion Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and the development of an
Information System strategy for the UCLA Enterprise. Before that, Rod was CIO at Froedtert &
Community Health (F&CH), a two hospital academic and community Health System in metropolitan
Milwaukee where he was responsible for telecommunication and information systems. Prior to
joining Froedtert, Rod was Vice President of Information Systems for St. John Health System
in Detroit, a seven hospital, 1750-plus beds, Integrated Delivery System. Rod’s experience
with St. John Health System began in 1983 after acquiring his Masters in Health Services
Administration from the University of Michigan. He also holds a B.A. in Biology from Kalamazoo
College in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Charles E. Christian, FCHIME, FHIMSS (Current, Fall 2011)
Chief Information Officer, Good Samaritan Hospital
Mr. Christian is the Chief Information Officer of Good Samaritan Hospital, a 103-year old free-standing, acute care, community hospital in southwest Indiana. Mr. Christian is responsible for all information technology activities throughout the enterprise and is serving in his 21st year of that role.
Prior to joining Good Samaritan Hospital, Mr. Christian worked in healthcare IT for Compucare and Baxter Travenol, in both management and implementation roles. Mr. Christian started his career in healthcare as a Radiologic Technologist, serving in various Radiology roles for 14 years. Mr. Christian studied natural sciences at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Lacrosse University.
Mr. Christian has delivered presentations on diverse healthcare technology topics and is frequently quoted and published in national trade publications. More recently he and co-authors, Judy Kirby and Steve Bennett, recently published “Make I.T. Known-Marketing Strategies and Cases Studies in the Healthcare Environment.”
During Mr. Christian’s tenure, Good Samaritan Hospital received the McKesson VIP Award in 2004, identified as a Solucient Top 100 Hospital – Quality Improvement Leader in 2005, listed as Most Wired (small and rural) in 2004 & 2005, a 2006 recipient of the VHA Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence and a 2008 recipient of the VHA Leadership Award for Supply Chain Excellence. Good Samaritan has most recently been recognized as a Magnet hospital by the ANA.
Mr. Christian is a Fellow of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and is a Past Chair of the Board of Directors, and past Chair of the BOD Executive Committee for this organization. Mr. Christian was previously a member of the HIMSS Analytics Board of Directors. Mr. Christian served as the board liaison for the Advocacy & Public Policy Steering Committee and is a Fellow and charter member of College of Health Information Management Executives (CHIME) and served on the CHIME BOD from 2003 through 2004 during which time he chaired the Membership Committee of the CHIME BOD. Mr. Christian is a charter member of the re-established Indiana Chapter of HIMSS and has served as a BOD member from 2000 - 2009. Mr. Christian served as a member of the Executive Advisory Board for Advance for Health Information Executives magazine, is a member of the Technology Advisory Committee for the Vincennes City Schools, and a member of the Curriculum Advisory Committee for Vincennes University.
Mr. Christian is currently serving on the KLAS Advisory Group and the CDW-Healthcare CIO Advisory Council as well as serving on the Board of Directors of the Indiana Health Informatics Corporation by appointment of Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels. Mr. Christian was recently asked to join the AHA Strategic Development Advisory Committee as a charter member. Mr. Christian is a member of the Symantec Healthcare Advisory Group.
Mr. Christian, along with co-authors Judy Kirby and Steve Bennett, received the 2010 CHIME Collaboration Award for their work “Make I.T. Known – Marketing Strategies and Case Studies in the Healthcare Environment.”
Mr. Christian is the recipient of the 2010 John E. Gall, CIO of the Year Award, presented by CHIME and HIMSS.

Adrienne Edens, FCHIME, CHCIO (Current; Past: Spring 2010, Fall 2010, Spring 2011, Fall 2011)
System VP and CIO, St. Luke’s Health System
Adrienne Edens is the Vice President and CIO at St. Luke’s Health System in Boise, ID, where she oversees strategic planning and operations for this regional health system.
Prior to joining St. Luke’s, she was the Vice President and Information Officer for the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan in Oakland, CA and held multiple executive positions in that organization. Previous positions include Executive IT positions with Catholic Healthcare West in Northern California and Vice President, Information Systems with Mercy Healthcare in Sacramento, CA. She also served as Practice Director for First Consulting Group in San Francisco, where she developed and managed the Pacific Northwest healthcare system’s consulting practice.
She holds an M.A. in Applied Psychology from the University of Santa Monica and received her B.A. from the University of California, Davis. She is a CHIME Fellow and is an active member of HIMSS.

David S. Muntz, FCHIME, CHCIO (Current; Past: Spring 2009, Fall 2009, Spring 2010, Fall 2011)
Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer
Baylor Health Care System
David Muntz, a 36-year veteran of Medical Information Systems, currently serves as the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for the Baylor Health Care System. In this role held since October 2006, he has responsibility for more than 550 employees who care for a delivery system with more than 140 points of entry. Baylor Health Care System received notoriety in healthcare IT as the #1 innovator in the healthcare sector on the 2007 Information Week 500 list.
Mr. Muntz most recently served as Senior Vice President of Information Services and Chief Information Officer for Texas Health Resources (THR), an integrated healthcare system created in 1997 by the merger of Harris Methodist Hospital System and Presbyterian Healthcare Resources, for the eight years. Prior to the merger, Mr. Muntz worked at Presbyterian Healthcare Resources where he was responsible for all information system functions including Medical Records. In his tenure as senior information officer, his information services organization received national recognition 9 years in a row.
Early in his career, Mr. Muntz worked at the Wadley Research Institute and Blood Bank in Dallas, Texas, an organization whose entities included a hospital, outpatient facilities, research institute, computer institute, and the blood bank for Dallas County. During his tenure, Mr. Muntz led the team that created a complete online record for the community’s blood bank. In addition, Wadley’s other divisions, the hospital, clinic, and physician practices, shared a computer based patient record created by Mr. Muntz and his staff. Eventually Mr. Muntz assumed the role of CEO for Wadley leading a major restructuring shortly before resuming pursuit of his major interest, Medical Information Systems.
Mr. Muntz received an MBA from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and an AB degree in Premedicine and English from Columbia College in New York City.
He is currently a member and Trustee of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and has been a speaker for numerous local, state and national organizations. He was recognized as CIO Innovator of the Year by CHIME in 2005 and was listed as one of the “Top 5 CIOs” in the June 1999 issue of Health Management.

Timothy Stettheimer, Ph.D., FCHIME, CHCIO (Current; Past: Spring 2009, Fall 2009, Fall 2010, Spring 2011, Fall 2011)
Senior VP & Regional CIO, St. Vincent’s Health System/ Ascension Health
Timothy Stettheimer, Ph.D. serves as senior vice-president and chief information officer for St. Vincent's Health System in Birmingham, Alabama. St. Vincent’s Health System includes four acute care hospitals and one ambulatory facility and is part of St. Louis based Ascension Health. In addition to his CIO duties at St. Vincent’s Health System, Dr. Stettheimer also holds the title of Regional Chief Information Officer for Ascension Health. His regional leadership includes responsibility for hospitals in Birmingham (AL), Mobile (AL), Pensacola (FL), Destin (FL) and Jacksonville (FL). Also, Dr. Stettheimer provides executive leadership as a co-lead for all of Ascension Health’s national clinical information system initiatives.
Among Dr. Stettheimer’s hospitals is St. Vincent’s – Birmingham, the Flagship Digital Hospital for Ascension Health and a multi-year “Most Wired” winner. St. Vincent’s leads Ascension Health as well as the industry in the use of innovative and enabling technology such as robotic surgery, pervasive mobile and context aware computing, integrated clinical repositories and electronic patient records. At St. Vincent’s Health System, Dr. Stettheimer has responsibility for strategic and tactical information technology initiatives, as well as alliances and partnerships with external companies to support information initiatives. His participation with hospital executive teams and his involvement in board level activities supports health system level initiatives to fulfill Ascension Health’s Call to Action for Healthcare that is Safe and Healthcare that Works.
Dr. Stettheimer is a Fellow with both the College for Healthcare Information Management Executes (CHIME) and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). He is also certified as a professional in healthcare information management systems (CPHIMS) as a member of the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS). In 2005, Dr. Stettheimer was named the John E. Gall Jr. CIO of the Year by CHIME and HIMSS. He was also recognized as a Medical Informatics Fellow under a National Institute of Health Grant (1993-1995) during his doctoral studies. He holds faculty positions with the University of North Texas and the University of Phoenix where he teaches Master’s and Doctoral classes in information systems and medical informatics. Dr. Stettheimer previously served as a regional information services executive in Fort Worth, Texas for Florida-based Adventist Health System. His Ph.D. was earned from the University of North Texas, focused in the field of medical informatics.
Dr. Stettheimer serves as a member of the McKesson Strategic Advisory Council, Adobe Corporation’s CIO Council and the Editorial Advisory Board for Advance for Healthcare Information Executives. He has previously served on the HP Healthcare Executive Council and on the Advisory Board for The Emerging Technologies and Healthcare Innovations Conference. Dr. Stettheimer has delivered presentations on diverse healthcare technology topics and is frequently quoted and published in national trade publications.
He is the 2010 Board Chair of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and serves as Chairperson, Education Committee.

Lynn H. Vogel, Ph. D., FHIMSS, FCHIME, CHCIO (Current; Past: Spring 2009, Fall 2009, Spring 2010, Fall 2010, Spring 2011, Fall 2011)
VP/CIO, Associate Professor, Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center
Lynn Harold Vogel, Ph.D., is Vice President and Chief Information Officer at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center (UT-MDACC) in Houston, Texas, a $4B+ clinical, research and teaching institution that is the world’s largest and consistently one of the highest rated facilities devoted to the care and cure of cancer. In 2006, M. D. Anderson was named to the CIO100 list of the most innovative IT organizations, to the top 100 of InformationWeek’s Top 500, has been honored twice as one of the top 25 connected healthcare facilities by Health Imaging and IT, and named as the inaugural recipient of the Transformation Leadership Award, jointly by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and the Center for Healthcare Transformation. In 2007, Dr. Vogel was named as one of Computerworld’s Premier 100 IT Leaders, and was awarded one of ten “Best in Class” designations for his work in bridging clinical care and research through information technology (IT). This year, MDACC was again honored by Computerworld as a leader in the healthcare industry by designation as a Laurate, and also awarding the institution its prestigious 21st Century Achievement Award in Healthcare.
Dr. Vogel is also Associate Professor of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at UT-MDACC, and Adjunct Professor of Management at The University of Texas School of Public Health. During his almost thirty year career, Dr. Vogel has previously held faculty appointments at The University of Chicago, The City University of New York and Columbia University. He has led IT organizations at The University of Chicago Hospitals, and at Mount Sinai Medical Center and New York Presbyterian Healthcare in New York City. At UT-MDACC, Dr. Vogel serves as the senior IT executive managing a 700+ person IT division, and is leading the in-house development of UT-MDACC’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) with a major focus on the integration of research and clinical data. He also serves as a faculty member for the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) CIO Boot Camp experience.
Dr. Vogel is a frequent presenter at regional and national conferences, and has authored numerous articles on topics such as identifying returns from healthcare information technology investments, implications of personalized medicine for information technology, governance strategies for IT investment decisions, and information technology strategy and management.
Dr. Vogel’s education at the bachelor’s, masters and doctoral level was completed at The University of Chicago. He is a Fellow, Charter Member and a current Trustee of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), a member and Fellow of the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS), and a member of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA).

Timothy R. Zoph, FCHIME (Current; Past: Fall 2009, Spring 2010, Fall 2010, Spring 2011, Fall 2011)
Senior VP, Administration and CIO, Northwestern Memorial Hospital
Tim serves as the Senior Vice President, Administration and CIO for Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. In addition to his responsibilities as Information Technology leader, he has management responsibility for the Facility Design and Construction division. This year marks his 18 year anniversary at Northwestern Memorial and 27 years as a CIO in the health care industry. Tim has earned graduate business degrees from the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University and the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Utah.
Through Tim’s leadership, Northwestern Memorial has been awarded one of the 100 Most Wired Hospitals for 11 years. He received the John Gall CIO of the year award co-sponsored by College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) in 2003. Tim was recently named the 2008 CIO of the Year by the Executives’ Club of Chicago along with The Association of Information Technology Professionals. Tim serves on the Board of Trustees for the Chicago Academy of Sciences and its Notebaert Museum and he is also a faculty member of the Chime CIO Boot Camp that is dedicated to training current and future information technology leaders in the healthcare industry.
Tim and his wife Jodi have been married 20 years and have one son Barret. Tim is a cyclist with The VisionQuest Coaching Team and races locally and nationally.
