CIO Forum Speaker Guidelines

The College of Healthcare Information Management Executive's CIO Forums (both spring and fall) are the primary networking and education events for technology leaders in the healthcare industry. At the CIO forums, members of CHIME, CHIME Foundation, and invited guests converge to share knowledge, ask questions, and learn more from industry experts and peers about current issues of particular importance to healthcare CIOs.

In accepting our invitation to be a CIO Forum speaker, we require that you comply with the following important guidelines as you develop your presentation. Thank you!

Written Presentation

CHIME requires that each speaker submit a written copy of their presentation to the conference organizers for publication on CHIME's website. They can be notes in outline or summary form or an actual copy of your speech (e.g. PowerPoint slides). This provides a great service to our attendees who will be able to reference your speech via our website. This information is due one month prior to the CIO Forum so that we can post it on the Internet immediately following your presentation.

On Topic

In general, session topics should coincide with the specific forum theme or otherwise be timely, relevant, and of particular interest to healthcare CIOs. Once your topic is set, and the title and description advertised, we ask you to stay “on topic” in developing and delivering your presentation. This is extremely important in meeting our attendees' expectations.

Sales Pitches

Attendee evaluations are always highly critical of sales pitches. No speaker may use a CIO Forum session for commercial sales pitches, self-promotion, or unwarranted criticism of a competitor. Presentations should advance the educational process; sales pitches do not and are unacceptable. Speakers are not permitted to distribute company literature, brochures, or sales materials in any form to attendees.

Supplemental Handout Materials

Speakers are encouraged to submit notes, white papers, or other relevant materials as supplemental handouts for attendees.
