CHIME MEMBERSHIP

Thank you for your interest in joining the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). Membership in CHIME gives you access to a full suite of benefits and services that are tailored specifically to healthcare CIOs.

CHIME membership is primarily for CIOs at healthcare delivery or payer organizations (see our complete membership criteria for more details); other healthcare IT executives can also join CHIME if they meet certain membership criteria. CHIME membership is also available to CMIOs, CNIOs and other Corporate IS/IT Executives. Not a CIO? CHIME has an affiliate program you might be interested in.

Membership for CIOs

If you are the CIO or the highest-ranking IS executive at a healthcare delivery or payer organization, you are eligible for membership in CHIME. Regional or facility-level CIOs in corporate systems are also qualified to join CHIME.

Full Membership

Full membership in CHIME includes access to all of our online resources as well as all of our educational programs and conferences. Full membership is available to all healthcare CIOs who meet the CHIME membership criteria.

Online-Only Membership

Online-only membership includes access to all of CHIME’s online resources. Online-only membership is available exclusively to CIOs at organizations outside the United States, and to CIOs at small and rural organizations (fewer than 125 beds or less than $75 million in annual revenue). For a complete list of online-only membership benefits, please click here.

Membership for CMIOs and CNIOs

CHIME membership is available to CMIOs and CNIOs at healthcare delivery or payer organizations. Applicants who are the highest-ranking clinical informatics professionals in the medical or nursing areas at their organization may be qualified to join. The organization’s CIO must also be a CHIME member and they must write a letter of support for the CMIO or CNIO to join.

Membership for Corporate Senior IT/IS Executives (non-CIOs)

CHIME membership is available to applicants who are not the CIO or highest-ranking IT/IS executive but who have significant responsibility at a large organization. If the Corporate Senior IT Executives are assessed to have a sufficient level of authority in their organization (using a point-based criteria) and their application is supported by the organization’s CHIME-member CIO, they are entitled to full membership in CHIME.

CHIME Affiliate Program

CHIME offers an Affiliate program, available for IT professionals who are on the path to becoming a CIO but have not yet reached that level. The Affiliate program was created to support the professional development needs of future healthcare CIOs, and includes online education, career support, and other web-based resources. To qualify for the Affiliate Program, you must be a direct report to a CIO who is a current CHIME member. For a complete list of Affiliate benefits, please click here.

CHIME isn't only about furthering your professional development, membership is actually enjoyable. I share many of the same interests and challenges both professional and personal as my peers. The diversity and quality of the people I have met over the years has been an added reward. Work hard and play hard is what you can expect from being a member of CHIME.

Cooperation and collaboration between CHIME members and CHIME Foundation firms is more important now than it ever has been before. As the healthcare landscape rapidly evolves, this unique partnership provides CHIME members with the opportunity to influence the very future of healthcare IT.

Senior Vice President and CIO Sharp HealthCare

I have found the IT Warehouse and the CIO Connection newsletter to be valuable information sources tailored to the unique challenges facing CIOs in healthcare. Those combined with the College Live sessions and the semi-annual CIO Forums provide me with a powerful combination of information and professional networking which more than justify the cost of membership.
