Future of Patient Access Driven Interoperability
Event Information
Challenges of interoperability continue to plague our healthcare ecosystem in more ways than one. The impact of this was (and continues to be so) on display as the COVID 19 recently unfolded with struggles to access patient data for better research and response. The latest and one of the brightest attempts is the one that came out recently as The Interoperability and Patient Access final rule from CMS and as Cures Act Final Rule from Office of National Coordinator (ONC). These rules try to address the age-old debate of healthcare data ownership through the lens of data access and interoperability. This also has potential to unlock healthcare data to better achieve the triple aims of healthcare โ addressing per capita cost, experience of care and population health.
Learning Objectives:
- Meeting the requirements of the rules from CMS and ONC โ challenges and opportunities
- Future EMRs, HIEs and integration engines in the API world
- Accelerated digital transformation with more and better data access
